The formation of this Alliance was also to a large extent made possible through the motivation, inspiration, financial and technical assistance of the Northern Alliance at the time, made up of International Non-Governmental Organizations from the Netherlands and UK.
Three of these organizations worked directly and closely with all the GH Alliance Partners. Simavi worked with NORSAAC, HFFG, PHSN, Simli AiD and Savanna Signatures. Dance4life with Curious Minds and Theatre for Social Change. IPPF which was already mothering PPAG continued to work closely together. Therefore Simavi, dance4life and IPPF directly inspired and motivated these Ghanaian CSOs to form the GH Alliance.
Rutgers WPF which was the Lead of the Northern Alliance together with AMREF Flying Doctors, CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality, STOP AIDS NOW! Now known aidsfonds, also provided many forms of assistance through Simavi, dance4life and IPPF towards the formation of the GH Alliance.
By the end of the ASK Programme the GH Alliance was alive. Partners appreciated their membership and belongingness to the Alliance. The Ghana SRHR Alliance is legally registered as a company limited by guarantee by the eight founding organizations.
The GH Alliance as it is known now, has a high functional perspective and has adequately involved young people in the promotion and championing of their SRHR.
Also, the opportunity of effectively collaborating with other Civil Society Organizations (CSO) and Government agencies is being realized, thereby avoiding the situation in many organizations working in SRHR are still fragmented and working in silos with no opportunities to learn from one another and champion a unified and strong advocacy voice.
